BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF GREATER LOS ANGELES NAMES LAURA LIZER CHAIR OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

LOS ANGELES, CA (April 9, 2015) – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles (BBBSLA) has named prominent Los Angeles business owner and philanthropist Laura Lizer as Chair of the Board of Directors. A member of the Guild of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles since 2008, Lizer joined their Board of Directors in 2010.

“We are thrilled to have a visionary such as Laura as our new Board Chair,” said Siart, “to help guide the organization into a new era of strategic focus and innovation in our mentoring programs that will lead to an even greater impact on our community.”

For more than 20 years, Lizer has been sole owner and president of Laura Lizer and Associates, a financial management firm for entertainment industry professionals. Named by Los Angeles Magazine as “One of the top five financial gurus in Los Angeles,” she currently handles assets in excess of $1 billion.

An active member of the philanthropic community, Lizer is credited with helping to raise over $100 million for the Children’s Miracle Network and the pediatric hospitals they fund. Especially committed to the work of children’s charities, she founded the Mort Viner Scholarship Fund at Temple Israel of Hollywood. Named for her mentor, the organization is dedicated to assisting children of single parents.

A long-time board member and past treasurer of SHARE, an organization that raises funds for programs and research benefiting developmentally disabled children, Lizer has also been actively involved with Summa Children’s Foundation and was honored with their Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her efforts to positively impact the lives of young people in our community. She has also served as president of the Women in Business Foundation.
