BLOG: Celebrate California Wine Month at Peninsula Beverly Hills

Attend the California Wines Road Trip Tasting from 6-9 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Peninsula Beverly Hills hotel.

Gov. Jerry Brown has declared September our eighth annual California Wine Month, and when the governor makes a decree, good citizens lend their support.

Although multiple celebratory events are being held statewide, Angelenos can rally for the cause at our premier bash, California Wines Road Trip Tasting, 6-9 p.m. Sept. 6 at The Peninsula Beverly Hills Verandah. This tasting features wines from 12 of our state’s important growing regions: Napa Valley, Sonoma, Mendocino, Santa Barbara, Lake County, Lodi, Monterey, Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo, Livermore Valley, Temecula and Santa Cruz Mountains.

Festivities are a coordinated effort of The Wine Institute of California and Girl Meets Grape. Wine Institute is, "...the largest advocacy and public policy association for California wine." With 1,000 wineries and affiliated businesses in its membership, the institute's mission is to, "initiate and advocate public policy that enhances the ability to responsibly produce, promote and enjoy wine."

Their work includes: "... international market development, media relations, research, and educational programs that benefit the entire California wine industry." Girl Meets Grape is a wine and lifestyle media group and consultancy headed by Bonnie Graves, who (among other noteworthy accomplishments) is responsible for coordinating the hugely successful wine seminars at this year's Los Angeles Food and Wine Festival.

The Road Trip tasting is a fantastic opportunity to sample more than 60 wines, and to get to know the winemakers and grape growers behind them. Being organized by region gives guests the chance to familiarize themselves, one by one, with the unique characteristics of California’s diverse American Viticultural Areas. Small, wine-friendly bites will be served.
