Hours-Long Century City Power Outage Affects High Rises, Residents

The outage caused by construction work continued through mid-afternoon Thursday.

CENTURY CITY, CA -- A power outage caused by construction work in the Century City area Thursday affected about 500 residential and business customers, including at least two high-rise buildings, authorities said.

The problem was reported about 9:30 a.m. in the area of Constellation Boulevard and Avenue of the Stars, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

Crews were working to restore service.

Some DWP equipment was struck during construction work in or near a building, according to department spokeswoman Christy Holland.

The outage continued through mid-afternoon and no estimated time of service restoration was available, Holland said.
