Detectives Catch Burglary Crew Red-Handed, Say Police

Investigators allegedly watched a crew of gang members with extensive criminal histories burglarize a Pacific Palisades home.

Four members of an alleged burglary crew were arrested in Pacific Palisades when investigators from a sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau task force caught them in the act, authorities said today.

The Metro Detail, Burglary-Robbery Task Force was investigating a suspected residential burglary “crew” when they saw the suspects in action Monday.

The investigators were watching a group of male and female gang members who were using rental cars while committing “knock-knock” style residential burglaries throughout Los Angeles County.

They spotted two men and two women driving a rental car through an upscale residential neighborhood in Pacific Palisades about 12:45 p.m. on Monday, said Sgt. Michael Maher.

They spotted two suspects jump over a side gate into the back yard of a residence, and then walk back out the same side gate, this time with a bag and other items, Maher said.

The rental car came around and picked up the two suspects with the two other suspects inside.

The detectives quickly confirmed the residence had been ransacked and burglarized, and a short distance away, near the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Paseo Miramar, the deputies stopped the car and detained the four suspects without incident.

Stolen property, including jewelry, watches and sentimental heirlooms valued at about $10,000, was recovered from the car.

Four suspects were arrested and booked and held on $50,000 bail each. Bail is expected to be increased because of the suspects’ gang affiliations.

The suspects arrested were Elanee Jarrett, 20, Chivetta Overstreet, 21, Evarald Fisher, 22, and Donte Caldwell, 22, Maher said.

At the time of Overstreet’s arrest, she was free on bond for a recent felony evasion/vehicle pursuit arrest and had been arrested for 15 felony violations.

Jarrett was on parole for a residential burglary conviction and had numerous previous felony arrests.

Caldwell was also on parole and is a three strike candidate. He had been arrested for more than a dozen felony violations.

Fisher also had previous felony arrests, including for suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
