Driver Dies in Light Pole Crash

A man was fatally injured when his vehicle struck a light pole Friday night near the Los Angeles Country Club in Westwood.

The victim, who was initially trapped in the vehicle, was taken to a hospital in grave condition and later pronounced dead, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The crash was reported at 7:43 p.m. at 10130 Sunset Blvd., one block west of the border with Beverly Hills, Scott said.

The cause of the crash was unknown.

The victim's name was not released.
