The highly acclamied Shams Ensemble of Keykhosro, Sohrab, and TahmouresPournazeri will present a dynamic set of music influenced by Sufi traditions and arranged especially for the Persian New Year or Nowruz. Backed by an array of percussive instruments, the Ensemble's rhythmic and melodic sections, innovative arrangements, and impassioned compositions ride on the poetry of Rumi. Alireza Ghorbani, vocalist of the National Iranian Orchestra, appearing for the first time in the United States, accompanies Shams Ensemble in the upcoming performance.
