Dir: Robert Aldrich, Scr: Lukas Heller, 1968, UK/USA, 138min.
Robert Aldrich's The Killing of Sister George stars Beryl Reid as a British soap star fighting desperately against the bitter end of both her career and her relationship with a much younger woman. Bleak, overwrought, and certainly a camp caricature of lesbian life, the film is savagely funny, and one of the first mainstream films to feature lesbians as main characters.
