Fiery Two-Vehicle Crash Shuts Down 405 Southbound This A.M.

Paramedics rushed one person to an area hospital and a female motorist was arrested at the scene.

Paramedics rushed one person to an area hospital and a female motorist was arrested at the scene of a fiery two-vehicle crash that closed the southbound lanes of the San Diego (405) Freeway early today.

California Highway Patrol officer Jennifer Cassidy said the condition of that injured person was not immediately known.

The collision on the southbound freeway at Santa Monica Boulevard occurred at 3:52 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol online incident log, with witnesses reporting both vehicles being fully engulfed.

A videographer at the scene said two occupants of one of the vehicles, an SUV, appeared to be injured.

Southbound lanes of the freeway were closed for about 80 minutes after the collision.
