Leo DiCaprio Tapped for Movie 'The Revenant'

The A-lister will play Hugh Glass, a trapper out for revenge after being mauled by a grizzly bear, left for dead and robbed.

Leonard DiCaprio will star as a 19th century fur trapper in director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's "The Revenant," which set to start production in September, it was announced today.

DiCaprio will play Hugh Glass, a trapper out for revenge after being mauled by a grizzly bear, left for dead and robbed -- a story based on the Michael Punke novel, "The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge."

The movie for Arnon Michan's New Regency Productions is scheduled for release in the fall of 2015.

Gonzalez Inarritu's directing credits include "Amore perros" and "21 Grams," both of which earned him Academy Award nominations.
