Man Hospitalized After Bus Fight, Attacker Unknown

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who punched another man on a Blue Bus in Westwood.

Police asked for the public's help today in identifying a man who punched a fellow bus rider for stepping on his foot, knocking the man out of a side door where he hit his head on a curb.

Luis Contreras, whose age and hometown were unavailable, has been hospitalized in critical condition since the April 5 fight and could die, according to Los Angeles police Detective Luis Carranza.

Contreras was on a Big Blue Bus near Westwood Boulevard and Rochester Avenue when the fight broke out about 7 p.m. that Thursday.

Video shows the attacker punching Contreras in the face. Contreras falls backward through the door and out of the stopped bus, where he hits the back of his head on the curb.

Anyone who recognizes the attacker was asked to call detectives at 213-382-9470.
