Scorpion Stings Woman Aboard Plane at LAX

As if losing to USC didn't sting enough, the plane carrying Oregon State men's basketball team had to return to its gate due to a scorpion.

An airplane carrying the Oregon State men’s basketball team following their 68-55 loss to USC was forced to return to its gate at LAX after a woman on board was stung by a scorpion.

The woman, who was sitting two rows in front of Oregon State coach Wayne Tinkle, was stung before the Alaska Airlines flight took off Saturday, according to broadcast reports.

Flight 567 had flown to LAX from Mexico, where scorpions are commonly found, and was approaching the runway when the woman’s injury became known. She was taken by ambulance for a medical examination.
