Second Screening of WESTWOOD LA by Public Demand

By
popular demand there will be a second screening of WESTWOOD LA at Westwood’s Public Library. (the
debut screening on April 22 brought 85 people to the library’s 60-seat hall.)

 It
is a personal perspective from a filmmaker who lived and worked for fifteen
years in its midst as an architect and realtor. Far from being partisan,
propagandist or nostalgic, the film deals with problems of traffic, density,
heritage, identity, cultural mix and environmental quality through images and
interviews, at time humorous.

 The
narrative moves from the present to Westwood’s evolution since the mid-1880s,
to projections for its future. Meghiddo interviews long-time residents at their
homes, who tell how they see and feel about Westwood. Some appreciate the
place's present vibrancy, where the median age is 27; some criticize its
traffic and decay; other bring up personal memories from the 1940's.
