Updated: Police Evacuate Downtown Streets, Detonate Suspicious Vehicle Outside LAPD

The suspicious vehicle was parked within a block of the LAPD parking structure.

Updated at 11 p.m.: Police have detonated the suspicious vehicle that was found in the area of Second and Los Angeles streets this afternoon. The explosion occurred around 10:48 p.m., after the area had been cleared.

Original Story: A stolen vehicle deemed suspicious prompted a bomb squad investigation in downtown Los Angeles today.

The vehicle was located about 4:40 p.m. in the area of Second and Los Angeles streets, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Jack Richter. The LA Times is reporting that apartments in the neighborhood have been evacuated.
