Suspicious Packages Closes Sunset Boulevard for Hours

A portion of Sunset Boulevards was closed for hours as the bomb squad investigated a suspicious package.

A section of Sunset Boulevard was closed for about four hours in Hollywood today because of concerns about an unattended backpack that was found in a parking lot.

The incident began shortly before 8 a.m., and ended shortly before noon, when a bomb squad determined that the backpack contained no explosives, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

During the investigation, Sunset Boulevard was closed between Crescent Heights and Laurel Canyon boulevards, snarling traffic and affecting access to businesses in the area.
