UCLA Tops Public Universities In Philanthropic Fundraising
Last year, UCLA secured $786,650,878 in cash from private sources, putting it behind just three private universities.
LOS ANGELES, CA — UCLA was the No. 1 public university in philanthropic funds raised during the 2017-18 fiscal year, UCLA reported Friday.
UCLA's statement quoted a report by the Council of Advancement and Support of Education. The latest Voluntary Support of Education survey analyzed the period from July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2018, during which UCLA secured $786,650,878 in cash from private sources, according to the school.
Among all 929 colleges and universities in the survey, public and private, UCLA ranked No. 4 overall, behind only Harvard University, Stanford University and Columbia University. The survey, conducted annually since 1957, is considered the definitive source of information regarding fundraising totals by U.S. institutions of higher education.

UCLA' ranking benefited from a record-breaking fiscal year that helped the Centennial Campaign for UCLA surpass its $4.2 billion goal ahead of schedule. Even with the campaign goal met, the campus will continue to raise funds for student scholarships and other important priorities through the planned end of the campaign in December 2019, and beyond.
