UCLA Undie Run Gets Unruly

LOS ANGELES, CA - Officers from the UCLA and Los Angeles police departments today dispersed a crowd that became rowdy while watching UCLA's "Undie Run," authorities said.

There were about 8,000 runners and several hundred spectators when officers were called to the scene around 1 a.m., said UCLA Campus Police Sgt. J. Pak.

Pak said the runners were relatively "tame" and that the unrest stemmed from "a large entourage that comes to watch" the antics. Some of the revelers jumped on top of an LAPD car as crowds were dispersed, Pak said.

No arrests were made and no officer injuries were reported, Pak said.

The "Undie Run," which consists of students running in their underwear, coincides with final exams. It began in 2002.
