'Unknown' Tops Weekend Box Office

The Liam Neeson film debuts to an estimated $21.8 million.

The action-thriller Unknown topped the weekend box office, according to figures out Sunday, earning an estimated $21.8 million.

Unknown marks star Liam Neeson's second foray into action-hero territory to debut at No. 1, after 2009's Taken, which went on to earn $145 million.

Of the two other films opening this week, I Am Number Four came in at No. 2 with an estimated $19.5 million and Martin Lawrence's latest comedic turn as an undercover FBI agent in Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son, was in fifth place with an estimated $17 million.

The 3-D animated kidpic Gnomeo and Juliet and fellow holdover Just Go With It starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston came in third and fourth place with an estimated $19.4 million and $18.2 million respectively.

The rest of the top 10: Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, $13.6 million; The King's Speech, $6.6 million; The Roommate, $4.1 million; The Eagle, $3.5 million and No Strings Attached, $3.1 million.
