2-Alarm Fire at Hydroponic Supply Store Quickly Doused
The fire downed power lines and Southern California Edison was summoned to cut off electricity and make repairs.

SANTA FE SPRINGS, CA — A two-alarm fire Tuesday sent up a giant column of black smoke from the rear yard of a hydroponic supply business in Santa Fe Springs, but no one was injured.
The fire was reported at 4:15 p.m. behind the one-story structure at 11760 Slauson Ave., authorities said.
About 45 firefighters responded and knocked down the flames by 4:45 p.m., Santa Fe Springs Fire Department Chief Michael Crook said.

The structure suffered no damage, but there was damage to the yard's contents, Crook said.
Some fertilizer was believed to have been stored at the site, but a hazardous materials response was not required, according to the chief.
