CERRITOS, CA –Three people were arrested early Monday morning for allegedly stealing copper parts cut from an air conditioning system atop a Toys R Us store in Cerritos.

Deputies from the sheriff's Cerritos Station were conducting a commercial burglary suppression operation at the Cerritos Promenade in the 11300 block of South Street when they saw two men and a woman behind a Toys R Us store loading large copper parts into a vehicle, according to sheriff's Sgt. Gilbert Ramirez.

The three were detained pending further investigation and when the deputies, with the help of county firefighters, accessed the roof of the building they found that the copper parts had been cut from the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system, Ramirez said.
