In honor of March being Women's History Month, it's only fitting to turn the spotlight on a local women's organization that has contributed to our community so generously throughout the years.
The Woman's Club of Artesia-Cerritos (WCAC) is a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs. And for more than 95 years, the WCAC has left a positive and lasting imprint on our community through its commitment to leadership and philanthropy.

The WCAC boasts a history of strong, intelligent, and powerful women within its membership, including former -- one of the club's most famous members. Today, the WCAC consists of nearly 100 members and includes various prominent community members. Ester Pulido, mother of recently elected City Council member , is just one of the many WCAC members that are employed by or involved with the local municipal agencies or other major organizations in the area.

A diverse group within itself, the WCAC sponsors a variety of local charities, education programs, and cultural organizations. Their beneficiaries include, but are not limited to, the Rio Hondo Temporary Shelter, Cerritos College Ellen Carver Scholarship, Su Casa Family Crisis/Support Center,Community Family Guidance Center, Friends of the Artesia Library, Friends of the Cerritos Library, and Long Beach Veteran's Hospital.
How to Get Involved
The WCAC welcomes new members throughout the year. Homemakers, entrepreneurs, community leaders, seniors, professionals, and all women interested in bettering the community are invited to join. If you or someone you know is interested in being a part of this organization, please attend any WCAC meeting held every second Thursday of the month or contact the group directly.
The WCAC hosts a variety of events and fundraisers in Cerritos and Artesia year round, and all locals are welcomed to attend and show their support. Check the WCAC Calendar for upcoming news and events in 2011.

- WCAC President Nancy Sousa urges women of all ages to join the WCAC, AAUW, and Soroptimist International of Artesia-Cerritos in a celebration of historical and powerful women.
Friends of the Artesia Library Book Sale: Mar. 19, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
- WCAC supports their partner organization's book sale
- $2 Bag: All the books you can fit in a bag (provided) for $2
- Gently used books are needed for donation
WCAC Fashion Show: Apr. 11, time TBD
- The WCAC is seeking women in the following age groups to participate in the charitable fashion show: 20-30, 30-40, 40-50
- Volunteers need to confirm by May
