The classic rock band is touring the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand, promising a set packed with hits and deep cuts for local fans ready to plan ahead.
• La Mirada football uses 2nd-half rally to edge El Rancho (pasadenastarnews.com) — La Mirada's football team stormed back from an 18-point halftime deficit to edge El Rancho 19-18, powered by quarterback Isaas Cuevas and playmaker Josiah Fregoso. After this dramatic win, La Mirada gets a bye before hosting Cerritos in its Gateway League opener on Oct. 2 at 7 p.m., giving local fans a clear date to circle.
• Community colleges suddenly oppose plan to let them offer more bachelor's degrees (el-observador.com) — New rules for how California community colleges can add bachelor's degree programs could let Cerritos College expand by six to eight new degrees starting in 2028, according to its president. While many community college leaders now oppose the bills over new caps and complexity, Cerritos' strong completion rates mean local students may see more four-year options close to home.
