Cerritos, Calif. Resident Albert Chen Promoted to Senior Vice President in Thornton Tomasetti’s Los Angeles Office

Albert Chen, P.E., S.E., a resident of Cerritos, Calif., has been promoted to senior vice president in the Los Angeles office of Thornton Tomasetti, the international engineering firm. 

Mr. Chen has more than 30 years of experience in the structural design of mixed-use, commercial, retail, parking, healthcare, education and hospitality projects. His background includes overseeing tenant improvement projects, forensic investigations, new building design, and seismic upgrades for existing structures. His responsibilities include project management with technical involvement from concept design through construction, quality control and quality assurance and business development.

He is a licensed Civil Engineer and Structural Engineer in California and a licensed Professional Engineer in Washington. He is a member of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute, the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California (SEAOSC). He is active on the SEAOSC Seismology Committee, which is heavily involved in the development of U.S. seismic codes.

Mr. Chen holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Chung Yuan University in Taiwan and a master's degree in structural engineering from the University of Texas, Arlington.
