Authorities Identify Artesia Man Killed in Drive-By Shooting

Authorities are continuing to investigate a double shooting that left one man dead and another wounded in Artesia Thursday.

ARTESIA, CA - Authorities Friday identified a man who was killed in a drive-by shooting outside a residence in Artesia that left another man wounded.

The crime occurred about 12:15 a.m. Thursday in the 11900 block of 167th Street, said Deputy Lisa Jansen of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

Carlos Jimenez, 38, of Artesia died at the scene, according to the coroner's office. The survivor was hospitalized in fair condition with an arm wound.

"The two victims were conversing on the driveway of the residence after returning from a late shift at work when gunshots were fired from a moving vehicle towards the driveway of the residence," a sheriff's statement said.

No description was released of the vehicle or of the suspect or suspects.
