Bellflower Man Found Dead In Inyo County River
Jon Overgaauw was on a fishing trip and apparently lost his footing and fell into the river, authorities said.

BELLFLOWER, CA — A 30-year-old Bellflower man on a fishing trip to Inyo County was found dead after apparently falling into the Owens River, authorities said Friday.
Jon Overgaauw was found dead about 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Inyo County Sheriff's Department.
Shortly after noon that day, Inyo County sheriff's dispatchers received notification of a missing member of a four-person fishing group.

"According to the reporting party, the group was alerted when their friend did not return to his vehicle after fishing," according to a sheriff's statement. "He was last seen below the Tinnemaha Reservoir on the east side of the Owens River bank."
Searchers went to the area and found Overgaauw's body near the area where he was last seen. The area is rocky with swift-moving water.

"Preliminary investigations indicate that he appeared to have slipped or lost his footing on the rocks," the sheriff's statement said.
