CERRITOS, CA – A death at a Cerritos senior citizen's community was ruled a suicide, the coroner's office said Wednesday.
It was reported at 11 p.m. Sunday in the 19100 block of Pearl Court, said Lt. Brian Bishop of the Cerritos Sheriff's Station. The senior community was Emerald Villas, according to a news videographer at the scene. Emerald Villas was Cerritos' first affordable living senior housing community, according to the city's website.
Detectives were investigating the death Monday, authorities said. Firefighters responding to the scene requested a hazardous materials team, which came and cleared the site for homicide detectives, Bishop said.
