Disneyland Unveils Redesigned Rivers of America

The attraction was closed over the weekend for renovation and for the construction of the new Star Wars land.

Disneyland officials on Monday released an artist’s rendering to let fans know what they can expect when the Rivers of America attraction reopens following a renovation that includes a new riverfront.

The theme park’s Rivers of America and the Disneyland Railroad were closed over the weekend to make way for the new Frontierland waterfront. It’s not clear when the work will begin.

The project will include an elevated trestle for the trains to go over, and the Mark Twain Riverboat and Sailing Ship Columbia will sail through the Rivers of America. The river surrounds Pirate’s Lair and Tom Sawyer’s Island.

As the work commences, the park’s visitors will get to see some of the steam engines used in the park for decades, with engineers on hand to offer interesting tidbits of information about the machines.

The new waterfront will be just outside the new Star Wars-themed attractions.
