Girl Killed By Train In Santa Fe Springs Listening To Music On Tracks ID'd
The teen's death was being investigated as an "unfortunate accident," police said.

SANTA FE SPRINGS, CA — Authorities Monday identified a 14-year-old Whittier girl who was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Santa Fe Springs while sitting on the railroad tracks, listening to music.
Joanna Lopez died at a hospital of injuries she suffered about 8:45 p.m. Friday in the 11300 block of Rivera Road, according to the coroner's office.
Whittier Police Department Lt. Steve Dean said the teen's death was being investigated as an "unfortunate accident."

Witnesses at the scene told police the girl was sitting on the tracks and listening to music when she was struck by the train, Dean said.
The Whittier Police Department patrols the area in Santa Fe Springs where the accident occurred.
