Kennedy High Assistant Coach Arrested on Suspicion of Sexually Assaulting Teens

Authorities believe there may be other victims of Joshua Christopher Owens.

BUENA PARK, CA -- An assistant water polo and swimming coach at Kennedy High School in La Palma faces allegations of sexually assaulting 14- to 16- year-old girls, Buena Park police reported Tuesday.

Joshua Christopher Owens, 23, of La Palma, was arrested Monday on suspicion of molesting an unspecified number of victims, according to Buena Park Police Department Sgt. Mike Lovchik.

Owens was released from the city's jail after posting $75,000 bail, Lovchik said.

Owens coached at Kennedy High School in the 2014-15 and 2015-16 school years, Lovchik said. He is accused of molesting the victims during those school years, according to Lovchik.

Owens worked as a seasonal lifeguard with the Long Beach Fire Department's Marine Safety Division this year, Lovchik said.
