Juan Gomez, 43, fatally shot his wife, Giselle Perez, 43, just before 8:30 a.m. Monday with a small-caliber handgun, police said.

LA HABRA, CA - Police on Wednesday released the identities of a man who shot his wife before turning the gun on himself in what investigators believe was a murder-suicide over the weekend.

Juan Gomez, 43, fatally shot his wife, 43-year-old Giselle Perez, just before 8:30 a.m. Monday with a small-caliber handgun before using it to kill himself, according to La Habra police Sgt. Jose Quirarte. The gun was registered to Gomez, the sergeant added.

Their teenage son called 911 to report the shooting, Quirarte said. The son said his mother had been shot and his father was still armed.
