Man Fatally Shot in Santa Fe Springs Jack in the Box Parking Lot ID'd

Ray Nolen, 35, whose hometown was not known, died at a hospital about 12:30 a.m. Friday, according to the coroner's office.

SANTA FE SPRINGS, CA -- A man fatally shot in the parking lot of a fast- food restaurant in the Santa Fe Springs area was identified Tuesday.

The crime occurred about 11:30 p.m. Thursday outside a Jack in the Box in the 11300 block of Washington Boulevard.

Ray Nolen, 35, whose hometown was not known, died at a hospital about 12:30 a.m. Friday, coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said.

"The victim was shot while seated on the curb in the parking lot of the location," said Deputy Guillermina Saldana of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

"The suspect drove into the parking lot, passed the victim, then turned around and illuminated the victim with the vehicle's headlights," said Saldana said.

"He exited the vehicle's driver side and immediately shot the victim multiple times in the upper torso," Saldana said.

The suspect got back into the car and sped off. He was described as an 18- to 25-year-old Latino man with a shaved head and thin build. His vehicle was described as a dark, mid-sized sedan, possibly an import.
