Man Killed in Artesia Drive-by Shooting

ARTESIA, CA - One man was killed Sunday night in a drive-by shooting in Artesia, authorities said.

The shooting happened at 7:40 p.m. in the 11800 block of Ashworth Street, Lt. D. Auner of the Lakewood Sheriff's Station said.

The victim was taken to Long Beach Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Auner said.

"We believe it is a drive-by, gang-related incident," he said.

Homicide detectives were investigating at the scene, Auner said.
