Man Killed In Vernon Crash ID'd

The cause of the crash was under investigation, police said.

VERNON, CA — Authorities Friday identified a man who was killed when the vehicle in which he was riding crashed in Vernon.

The man died at the scene of the crash, which occurred about 11:40 p.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of Vernon Avenue, said Vernon police Sgt. Brandon Gray.

He was identified by the coroner's office as 38-year-old Luis Castillo- Novelo, whose home town was not known

The driver was taken to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries, Gray said. The cause of the crash was under investigation.

Vernon Avenue was closed between Santa Fe Avenue and Alameda Street while an investigation was conducted, Gray said.
