Man Wounded in Norwalk Shooting May Have Strayed into Gang Territory: Authorities

The victim "unfortunately may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time," a sheriff's lieutenant said.

NORWALK, CA -- A man in his 30s who may have strayed too close to gang territory was shot and wounded early Thursday while walking in Norwalk, authorities said.

The shooting occurred at 12:03 a.m. near Foster Road and San Antonio Drive, said Lt. Jeff Dusky of the Sheriff's Norwalk Station.

The victim told authorities he was walking west on Foster when a man driving a silver four-door hatchback pulled alongside of him and asked where he was from, a typical gang challenge.
