Record Voter Turnout on First Day of Voting

The first ballots were cast Saturday when nearly 60 people showed up, the Los Angeles Daily News reported.

NORWALK, CA - Early in-person voting in California's June 7 primary is under way with a record crowd showing up to cast ballots at the Los Angeles County Registrar Recorder's office.

The first ballots were cast Saturday when nearly 60 people showed up, the Los Angeles Daily News reported. In 2012, only 12 people showed up on the first day voters were able to cast ballots in person.

Early voting is also under way by mail, but the Registrar's office also allows early voters to cast ballots in person on the weekends leading up to the Primary election.

The polling hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. this weekend and next at the Registrar's office at 12400 Imperial Highway in Norwalk.

Voters who are registered as non-partisans or Democrats can ask for a ballot that includes Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Only registered Republicans will be eligible to vote in the Republican primary, which includes presumptive nominee Donald Trump among the candidates.
