Registered Sex Offender Suspected in Attempted Kidnapping of Girl

A man, later identified as Armando Hernandez, tried to pull girl, 10, into a tan-colored Toyota Corolla on Sunday, authorities said.

NORWALK, CA - The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department asked for the public's help Wednesday to find other victims who might have been approached by a registered sex offender suspected of attempting to kidnap a 10-year-old girl in Norwalk.

Around 6:40 p.m. Sunday in the 13000 block of Clarkdale Avenue, a man tried to pull the girl into a tan-colored Toyota Corolla, said Detective Henry Jaquez of the sheriff's Norwalk Station.

Detectives later identified the suspect as Armando Hernandez, 54, of Norwalk, Jaquez said.

Hernandez was booked at the sheriff's Norwalk Station and was being held in lieu of bail, Jaquez said.

Detectives urged anyone with information that could aid the investigation to call the sheriff's Norwalk Station at (562) 466-5434. Anonymous tips may be provided by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
