Valley Christian, Cerritos, Whitney All Earn Berths in CIF Soccer Playoffs

Valley Christian's boys and girls prepare for first-round action.

Four local soccer teams, including the boys and girls teams from Valley Christian High School, earned berths in the CIF soccer playoffs, it was announced Monday.
Valley Christian’s girls, champions of the Olympic League, will play host to Ramona Convent in the first round of the Division 4 playoffs on Thursday at 3 PM.
The boys play Wednesday at home against San Luis Obispo in a Division 5 wild-card game. The winner will move to the first round and a matchup at San Bernardino Cajon on Friday.

The girls team from Cerritos High will begin the Division 3 playoffs on the road with a first-round game Thursday at Empire League champion Cypress. Cerritos took third in the Suburban League, and with a win would move into the second round on Feb. 22 against either Diamond Bar or La Canada Flintridge Prep.

Whitney High’s boys team also made the playoffs. The Wildcats, the No. 2 entry from the Academy League, will play at Ontario Christian on Friday in a first-round game in Division 6.

The winner moves on to the second round on Feb. 23. Championship games in all CIF divisions, boys and girls, will be held on March 4 and 5.
