1. A helping hand for local veterans (orovillemr.com) — A Chico Noon Exchange Club donation will help VECTORS buy a commercial washer and dryer for its local veterans housing facility. The group also announced two big dates for Chico-area veterans: the Vet Rock fundraiser on Sept. 26 at The Commons in Chico and the Butte County Stand Down Oct. 1–3 at the Elks Lodge.
   

2. Chico considers new e-bike rules for Bidwell Park trails (actionnewsnow.com subscription) — If you ride an e-bike in Bidwell Park, Chico officials are weighing rules that would keep Class 1 pedal-assist bikes on dirt trails but ban faster Class 2 and 3 models. The Parks Department's proposal goes to the Bidwell Park & Playground Commission for review at a 6 p.m. meeting, with local bike shop owners weighing in on safety and speed concerns.
   

3. Pioneer Community Energy on track to start service in Chico next fall (actionnewsnow.com) — Chico residents are on track to get electricity from Pioneer Community Energy starting in October 2027, with officials estimating about 10% savings on power bills while PG&E still handles delivery. The Chico City Council is getting an update on the rollout, which will automatically enroll most customers unless they opt out. Oroville, Paradise, and unincorporated Butte County are slated to join at the same time.
   

4. New ADA spots, paths, and fountain added at Hooker Oak (actionnewsnow.com) — Hooker Oak Park just became easier to enjoy, with new ADA parking spaces, smoother concrete paths, a bridge to the wheelchair ramp, and an accessible drinking fountain with bottle filler at Picnic Site 1. Chico's park district says these upgrades are part of an ongoing push to make every park visit welcoming for people of all ages and abilities, with a playground overhaul planned later.
   

5. Blue Truck Delivering Love award (chicoer.com) — A local artist honored North State Shelter Team volunteers for providing more than 3,400 mobile showers to Chico residents living without bathrooms. The piece also invites readers to submit current community snapshots, with clear guidelines on what kinds of people-focused photos the Chico Enterprise-Record will publish.
