Citrus Heights spay neuter clinic owner remains upbeat as $457K construction contract awaits approval (citrusheightssentinel.com) — Citrus Heights is moving closer to opening its low-cost cat spay and neuter clinic, with a $457,000 construction contract up for City Council approval on Sept. 9. The clinic will occupy a former Citrus Heights Preschool building on Old Auburn Road, with planned tenant improvements and a separate city-owned structure slated to become an Animal Control Services center.

At 104, Citrus Heights resident Dorothy Lunsford keeps life full of family and adventure (citrusheightssentinel.com) — Citrus Heights resident Dorothy Lunsford just marked an impressive 104th birthday, celebrating with family at her beloved Folsom Lake and even treating herself to fresh strawberry-blonde hair. Now living in an ADU with her granddaughter in Citrus Heights, she stays active with outings, family gatherings, and help from multiple generations who surround her with daily care and affection.
3. Bill to revamp Sacramento homeless policy is on Newsom's desk. What would it do? (sacbee.com) — Citrus Heights could soon be required to join Sacramento County and nearby cities in a new joint powers authority overseeing homelessness and housing policy if Gov. Newsom signs SB 802. The bill would shift control of key funding and the Point in Time Count from Sacramento Steps Forward to a board of elected officials, drawing both support and opposition across the region.
4. Southern Californian spicy chicken restaurant to open location in Natomas (sacbee.com) — Citrus Heights residents now have an Angry Chickz location nearby on Sunrise Boulevard, as the fast-growing spicy chicken chain expands across the Sacramento region. A new restaurant is opening in North Natomas later this month, joining existing locations in Elk Grove, Folsom, Citrus Heights, and Rocklin, giving local fans more options for Nashville-style hot chicken and sides.
