The City of Citrus Heights remains focused on keeping the community safe and healthy, and is moving forward with essential projects like the Safe Schools Corridor Plan. All those who live, work, go to school, or travel along Carriage Drive and Lauppe Lane are invited to join City staff for an interactive Zoom webinar. Details and registration information can be found at CitrusHeights.net/944.
City staff have spent the past year listening to the community and collecting feedback from parents, neighbors, teachers, and commuters to develop potential designs and safety improvements for these streets. The three schools located along the Carriage Drive and Lauppe Lane corridor have experienced a 25 percent enrollment increase, with a large majority of students being dropped off in cars. This increase in enrollment has contributed to higher-than-usual vehicular, pedestrian, bicycle, and parking demands, as well as increased vehicular speeds, midblock and uncontrolled pedestrian crossings, and school ingress and egress concerns. Now, the City’s team is ready to share concepts with the community and provide the chance to identify preferred designs for the future of Carriage Drive and Lauppe Lane.
