Community input has been at the forefront of the City’s Sunrise Tomorrow project: a Specific Plan to redevelop the 100-acre Sunrise Mall site. In addition to promoting the draft plan and Environmental Impact Report (EIR) online for review and comments, City staff have hosted three community workshops, presented updates to City Council and the Planning Commission, held stakeholder interviews with community partners, and had ongoing engagement with mall ownership. Those looking for even more information about the Sunrise Tomorrow Specific Plan and EIR are invited to attend the City’s virtual Planning Commission meeting on Wednesday, Sep. 1 at 6 p.m. During this special meeting, staff will take a deep dive into the draft plan and the EIR, covering logistics like potential building heights, permitted uses, potential impacts that the proposed development may have on the surrounding environment, and more.
