Local Sacramento-Area Artists and Writers Team Up to Share Stories of Hope and Recovery

Local event aims to encourage hope and dispel myths about mental illness.

On Sunday, July 12, the Stop Stigma Sacramento Speakers Bureau is hosting “Journey of Hope: Real Life Stories of Living with Mental Health Challenges Portrayed Through Art,”a unique art exhibit that features real life stories of hope and recovery paired with original art.

The event is part of Sacramento County’s Mental Illness: It’s not always what you think” project.

Through this exhibit, the Speakers Bureau hopes to raise awareness about mental health and give others insight, inspiration, hope, understanding, strength and connection.

The Stop Stigma Speakers Bureau is part of the “Mental Illness: It’s not always what you think” project, which seeks to promote messages of wellness, hope and recovery, dispel the myths and stereotypes surrounding mental illness, and fundamentally alter negative attitudes and perceptions about mental illness and emotional disturbance.
