Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Citrus Heights Hit and Run

Westbound Greenback Lane is closed.

A motorcycle rider was hospitalized with serious injuries Monday afternoon after being hit by a driver that fled the scene of the accident and then dumped his vehicle nearby, Citrus Heights Police have said.

The accident happened just before 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Greenback Lane and Birdcage Street, police said.

"The vehicle, a light colored gray van, fled the scene but was located a few blocks away," police said in a press release. "The driver had fled the location. The vehicle is being processed for evidence."

Citrus Heights Police said the driver was described "as a white male, dirty blonde or light brown hair, thin build."

Westbound Greenback Lane is closed between Sunrise Boulevard and Birdcage Street, and is expected to be closed until 6 p.m.
