• Gas leak reported at CMC Sports Bowl, GCU under lockdown soon after (tsl.news) — A gas leak at Claremont McKenna College's Sports Bowl briefly shut Claremont Boulevard and drew a quick response from LA County firefighters and the gas company on Thursday afternoon. Minutes after the leak was fixed, Claremont Graduate University went into a precautionary lockdown over a separate report, which Claremont police later determined posed no credible threat.
   

• Exhibit honors legacy of influential artist (lvcampustimes.org) — You can currently explore Samella Lewis' powerful, community-centered artwork at the Claremont Lewis Museum of Art, with the exhibit running Thursdays through Sundays until November 15. On September 8, the museum will also host a lecture, gallery visit, and tea delving deeper into Lewis' trailblazing legacy.
   

• Third of college students say it's OK to use violence to shut down speech (amedpost.com) — Claremont readers may note that Claremont McKenna College tops a national free-speech ranking even as many of its students say it's sometimes acceptable to shout down or even use violence against speakers. The survey, covering 257 colleges, highlights rising self-censorship and tensions over controversial views across campuses nationwide.
