CLAREMONT, CA — A DUI checkpoint will be staged at an undisclosed location in Claremont on Oct. 23, police said.
Motorists will be screened for signs of impaired driving during a DUI checkpoint operation conducted from 6 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday. Officers will also ensure that drivers are wearing seatbelts and possess valid driver licenses, according to the Claremont Police Department.
Claremont police said impaired driving is not just from alcohol and can include some prescriptions, and over-the-counter drugs that may interfere with driving.
Funding for the checkpoint is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
