CLAREMONT, CA — Claremont's Pooch Park will temporarily close Nov. 1 through Dec. 1 for scheduled turf maintenance aimed at keeping the dog park's grass healthy, according to the city.
The city's landscape contractor will aerate the turf, flush dog urine from the grass, remove invasive weeds and allow the lawn to rest during the monthlong closure, the city announced on Thursday.
The twice-yearly maintenance is intended to preserve the turf's health and appearance, helping it remain in good condition during warmer months, the city said.
While Pooch Park is closed, residents can take their dogs to other pet-friendly locations in Claremont, including Claremont Hills Wilderness Park, Thompson Creek Trail and Rancho San Jose Park, according to the city
Dog owners also can visit dog parks in neighboring cities, including San Dimas, Upland, Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga, the city said.
