CLAREMONT, CA — Claremont Hills Wilderness Park is closed because of forecasted rain and will remain off-limits until precipitation stops and trails have sufficiently dried, city officials said.
The closure took effect Thursday, according to the city.
Officials said hiking and riding on saturated trails can cause damage, increase erosion and lead to longer closures.
City staff will continue monitoring weather and trail conditions and will notify residents by email when the park reopens, the city said.
Additional closures may be necessary if weather conditions change, the city said.
Visitors were encouraged to wait for an official reopening notification before returning to the park.
