CLAREMONT, CA — An alleyway on First Street in Claremont will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic on Thursdays to accommodate a mural project at The Economy Shop, the city said.
The Economy Shop has partnered with Pitzer College art students to create a mural on the west-facing wall of the store. Painting is scheduled for Thursdays from 8 a.m. to noon, the city announced on Thursday.
The closure will affect the alleyway on First Street between Indian Hill Boulevard and Yale Avenue, the city said.
Pedestrian access along First Street will remain open during the work. Businesses and parking areas in the alley north of The Economy Shop will remain accessible via Second Street, according to the city.
The temporary closure will not be in effect on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, the city said.
The city advised residents with questions to contact the city's Engineering Division at 909-399-5395.
