Larson to lead Arent Fox's Complex Litigation practice

Arent Fox LLP has appointed Los Angeles partner Stephen G. Larson of Upland to lead its nationally recognized Complex Litigation practice. Larson joined the L.A.office in 2011, and represents companies and individuals in litigation involving complex commercial business disputes, antitrust actions, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigations, intellectual property rights, and criminal and regulatory defense.

“This appointment is a great testament to Stephen’s leadership skills and litigation prowess,” said Robert C. O'Brien, California Managing Partner. “He has worked hard to deliver winning litigation strategies, mentor young associates, and develop strong bonds with our partners.”

Before joining Arent Fox, Larson served as U.S. District Court Judge for the Central District of California and presided over a number of high-profile cases, including a landmark Military Extraterritoriality Jurisdiction Act case involving U.S. Marines accused of manslaughter during the Battle of Fallujah in Iraq. Sitting by designation on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, Larson participated in more than 40 appellate decisions.

Earlier, as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Criminal Division in Los Angeles, Larson led 24 criminal trials and received the U.S. Department of Justice Director’s Award for Superior Performance.

At Arent Fox, Larson successfully represented a defendant in the closely watched Lindsey Manufacturing Co. case, one of only a handful of FCPA investigations that have gone to trial.

Arent Fox’s Complex Litigation group has been recognized by Chambers USA for its “streamlined” approach that delivers “quality” results.
