Pomona Host Lions Bowl-a-thon

Would you like to have fun bowling and help the community at the same time? You can help the Pomona Host Lions Club raise money for its community service projects at its annual Charities Bowl-a-thon on Saturday, March 2 at 4:30 p.m.  It is being held at Oak Tree Lanes in Diamond Bar.  Club Fundraising Director Kris Georgeson is in charge of the event.

Also featured at the Bowl-a-thon will be a Silent Auction.  Chairs are Ricky Ortiz and Joyce Lima.  Other Bowl-a-thon committee members are Frank Guzman, Frank Alvarez, Anne Henderson, Steve King, Gil Smith and Barbara Smith.

The Bowl-a-thon is the Lions club’s largest charities fundraiser of the year. All money raised pays for the club’s service activities in the community, such as eye exams and glasses for needy school children, books for schools, a bus to the Braille Institute for training classes for vision impaired local residents, classroom enrichment mini-grants, Pomona beautification, the Lions literacy project in local schools, Flag Day presentations to elementary students, and library support, as well as many other worthwhile causes. None of the money goes to administrative costs.

The community can help in several ways.  People can put together a bowling team and gather monetary donations in support of the team.  Both individuals and businesses are encouraged to bowl. People can also donate gifts to the Silent Auction, or bid on auction items.  Cash donations are welcome too.
