Pomona Host Lions Club Celebrates Presidents Day with 1st Graders

The Pomona Host Lions celebrated Presidents Day with flag presentations to first graders at Yorba, Westmont and Madison Elementary Schools in Pomona. The Lions read a picture book, The Flag We Love, to the students, and then passed out small American flags on stands to everyone. Each stand had a patriotic saying on it. The flags are made in America.

At the end of each presentation, the Lions presented the book and a stuffed lion with a patriotic scarf to the classroom.  The Lions say they especially enjoy hearing the teachers and students talk about what the flag and America mean to them.

Lions Margie Shamblin and Anne Henderson gave the presentations at Yorba, and Lions Richard Rodriguez, Elliott Rothman, Steve Storbakken and Jo Fulton read and presented flags at Westmont.  Lions participating at Madison were Bryan Esparza, Jo Fulton, Ricky Ortiz, Richard Rodriguez, Ben Selters, Beverly Sugerman, and Richard Sugerman
